18/205 Yewtree House and Cobbs
GV II
Two houses. Early C18; early and mid C19 alterations and additions. Random and coursed rubble limestone, some red brick; brick rebuilt chimneys; stone and Welsh slate roofs. Two-storey with attic; original house L-plan with projecting wing. Various additions to wing and to rear of main block forming re-entrant courtyard. Front: 3-window fenestration to main front, all 12- pane sashes with timber lintels except for single-storey canted bay window to right of central doorway with 4-panel door and ironwork porch; continuous hoodmould over and some indications of former mullioned fenestration. Two gable end-mounted chimneys. Wing projects to right with small-paned ground floor fixed light and upper floor 2-light chamfered mullioned casement with hoodmould. Indications of roof raising above. Parallel addition to wing with front gable having off-centre attic iron casement and gable-mounted brick chimney. North side: side of C19 addition with some iron casements and C20 inserted garage door. Rear: 2-light chamfered mullioned casement to upper floor with hoodmould; former 2-light to ground floor. Parallel late C19 enlarged addition forming Cobbs on west side of re-entrant. Interiors not inspected. Pump stands in courtyard againt rear wall of Yewtree House.
