Details
FRAMPTON-ON-SEVERN THE GREEN SO 7407-7507 (east side) 10/125 The Grange 10.1.55 GV II Large detached house. Early C17, refronted in early C18 and altered and enlarged to side and rear in C19. Brick, concrete tile roof hipped to main section, large cruciform brick ridge stack. Later scattered brick stacks. Brick dentil course at eaves. Originally a single range lobby entry plan, of 2 storeys and attics, with additional wings to rear and left hand side mostly of 2 storeys. Main front has 4 bays , three 2-light leaded wood mullions and transoms with splayed brick voussoirs, and half-glazed double doors below stack (once reached by stair now removed). Similar ground floor but with 3-light flanking doors. Three dormers, 2 hipped, central one gabled, with paired leaded casements. Small hipped wing to left has similar fenestration and large gabled C19 doorcase on return. Interior said to have room with early C17 carved panelling and decorative plaster ceiling and C17 turned baluster stair but not accessible. (V.C.H., Gloucestershire, Vol X, 1972.)
