SHERBORNE SHERBORNE VILLAGE SP 1714 9/226 Nos 78, 79, 81, 83 and 84 (formerly listed as Nos 78-84 2.8.83 inclusive) II

Former almshouses now divided into five. Early Cl9. Ashlar. Artificial stone slate roof. Three C20 ashlar stacks. One C20 dressed stone stack. Long rectangular plan with gables brought forwards on north to form a 'U'-shaped plan. Gables project forwards very slightly on north front. 1 1/2 storeys. Symmetrical north front with central gable with 2-light casement with stopped hood to first floor over wide 4-centred arched entrance. Two half dormers with single-light casements within chamfered stone surrounds either side of central gable. Two-light casements to first floor of wings. C20 part-glazed door to right-hand gable similar door set back within archway at centre of facade. Plank door with single pane to left-hand gable. Doorways to gables with stopped hoods. C19 plank doors within 4-centred arched surrounds in gable ends. One Cl9 plank door and two C20 glazed or part- glazed doors in south front. Gable-end and axial stacks. Flat canopy at gable ends and to dormers. Moulded kneelers. Interiors not inspected.
