GV II

Large House. Early-mid C17, extended mid-late C17 and C19. Limestone rubble with dressed stone quoins; stone slate roof; ashlar stacks and brick stacks. Rectangular plan to early range with later C17 range at right angles rear right. C19 extension to the left gable end of the early range with further extension at right angles rear left. C17 ranges: 2 storeys and attic. C19 extension: 1 1/2 storeys. Early-mid C17 range with large gablet front left and rear right: single-light casement with ovolo-moulded surround, and 3-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement with a relieving arch to the ground floor; single-light casement with ovolo-moulded surround and two 2-light stone-mullioned casements, one ovolo-moulded, to the first floor; single ovolo- moulded stone-mullioned casement, retaining some leaded panes to the gablet. All casements with stopped hoods. C20 part-glazed door to forward facing gable within a flat-chamfered 'Tudor'-arched dressed stone surround (probably C19 in date). C18 gabled open- sided timber porch on low dressed stone side walls. C19 extension: two 4-pane sashes with horns to the ground floor; 2-light stone- mullioned half dormers. C17 range to rear with single-light and 3- light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements with stopped hoods and a 4-light stone-mullioned bay window. Single 2-light slate- hung roof dormer. Gable-end and axial stacks with moulded cappings. One single diagonal stack and one twin diagonal stack. Interior not inspected.
