SIDDINGTON - SU 09 NW 8/167 Barn and stable at Furzen Leaze Farm

GV II Large barn and stable complex. Late C18/early C19. Coursed rubble stone with flush quoins, stone slate roof. Stable to north with loft. Flight of 12 stone steps on north side up to loft door with gable, recessed plank door with timber lintel. Kennel hole below steps. Stable door to right with timber lintel, cambered head stable door and small 6-pane sash to left. Stable door and small window on west gable, lean-to at east end. Large barn against south wall at right angles with very large 2 storey dovecote porch on west side with pitched roof parallel to main roof and lean-to to right. Double doors with timber lintel, brick relieving arch with projecting stone keystone over and 2 large X tie bar plates. Small square opening above and low lantern on ridge. Opposed raking entry with slate roof added in front of original flush entry also with brick relieving arch. Five bays, collar and tie beam trusses, square vents throughout. Lean-to between porch and rear wall of stable on west side, and along east side, all with corrugated-iron roofs.
