HAZLETON HAZLETON VILLAGE SP 01 NE 5/46 John Lorde monument and 10 headstones in the churchyard of the Church of St. Andrew c9m south of south porch GV II Chest tomb and 2 rows of headstones. Limestone. a) Chest tomb to John Lorde the Younger, died 1644, c3m south-west of tower; trefoil-headed arcade of 3 blind arches on each side with carved spandrels. Single rose within each panel. Single similar blind arch at east end. Plain round-headed arch with clear inscription at west end. b) Row of four headstones clm west of John Lorde tomb; C18. Illustrating various different designs. One with carved skull projecting from top. c) Row of 6 headstones c2m west of the latter row; C17. Illustrating various different designs. Two matching headstones far left with pedimented tops and inscriptions dated 1676. An unusually rich group of monuments.
