Details

EVENLODE EVENLODE VILLAGE SP 22 NW 4/121 Poplars Farmhouse 25.8.60 II Marked as Martlet House on 6" O.S. map. Former farmhouse, now detached house. Early C17, refaced C19, C20 extensions. Coursed squared and dressed limestone, thin stone slate roof, ashlar stacks. L-shaped plan with former outbuilding, now garage attached to right gable end, C20 extension rear left. Symmetrical 2-storey, 4-windowed facade lit by 2 and 3-light hollow-chamfered stone-mullioned casements with stilted heads, carved spandrels, stopped hoods and leaded panes. C19 plank door off centre left with stopped hood. 3-light ovolo-chamfered window in left gable- end. Flat gable-end coping with gable-end stacks and axial stacks with moulded cappings. Interior 3-room plan to main body. Two 'Tudor'-arched fireplaces, one moved from upstairs with chamfered 'bulging-bag' stops. Open fireplace with wooden bressumer. Spine beam with stepped stops, similar stops at ends of floor joists.
