LONG NEWNTON A434 ST 89 SE (north side) 7/120 The Folly Farmhouse GV II
Farmhouse. Probably early C18. Random coursed rubble stone with flush quoins, hipped stone slate roof with parapet, 2 large dressed stone ridge stacks. Square range with single storey wing to right, 2 storeys and attic. Front has 5 windows, small 12-pane sashes in plain reveals with very large flush lintels and keystones to bays 1, 3 and 5. Four similar on ground floor with irregular keystones and central later porch, probably of early C19, with moulded doorcase, corner piers, and frieze with pediment with moulded cornice. Outer door of 6 flush panels, inner half-glazed 4-panel. Left hand return has 2 widely spaced tripartite sashes to ground and first floors. Right hand return to service courtyard has cambered head openings with casements and sashes. Both returns have 2 hipped dormers with paired casements.
