(south side)
6/26 Farmyard wall in centre of
yard at Babdown Farm
GV II

Farmyard wall, linking but not touching the barn (q.v.), stable
block (q.v.) and their adjoining cowhouses. 1847, part of farmyard
complex built for Robert Stayner Holford, possibly by Lewis
Vulliamy, dated on barn. Rubble stone, partly drystone, with plain
piers with rounded caps to openings. Main section running south
west/north east, between stable block and cowhouses on south, with
3 openings, each with pair of piers. Two sections at right angles
both running north west nearly to barn, to left hand side of cart
entry in each case, forming 3 nearly enclosed areas in yard.
Height varies between approximately lm and 1.5m. Part of a
complete and largely unaltered contemporary farmyard complex,
probably one of several built in the area by Vulliamy, and forming
the link between the various farm buildings mentioned above.
