Former large town house, now hotel. Late C16/Mid C17. Rubble stone with quoins on tall plinth, Cotswold stone slate roof to front, slate to back and concrete tiles to inner well, scattered ashlar stacks wth cylindrical flues singly and in pairs with moulded cornices and roll "off-set" and one large brick stack to rear. Large double range with inner well on right hand side. 3 storeys. 4 windows, canted and embattled 2-storey bays to each end with 5-light stone hollow-moulded mullion and transom iron casements to each, and two 3-light mullion and transom between with relieving arches over and continuous dripmould. Ground floor similar with central doorcase up 3 steps, square frame with plain jambs and semi-circular moulded soffit, and double wooden doors probably of late C19 with applied wood mouldings shaped to fit semi-circular soffit when doors are closed. 2nd floor has four 3- light stone mullions with square hoodmoulds, each below a coped gable with finial, with decorative C19 rainwater heads between gables. Rear garden facade of ashlar with 4 rendered gables and central 3-storey embattled canted porch bay with 2 attached columns. 12-pane sashes to first and ground floor, 2-Light stone mullions to 2nd floor. Large late C19 single storey canted bay to left. Moulded oculus on right hand gable. Interior: 2 fine rooms at rear with plaster ceilings and C18 fireplaces, and much remaining joinery and panelling generally. Inner well glazed in C19 and now forms central lobby with coved ceiling and central glazed skylight.
