incorporating the old barn

Formerly farmhouse, now house. C17 - early C18, extended late C18-
early C19, restoration and conversion of barn c1930. Coursed
squared and dressed limestone, artificial limestone slate roof,
ashlar stacks. Basically rectangular plan with late C18-early C19
extension rear right projecting forward slightly from facade far
right, converted barn projecting forward far left. Garden front:
2 storeys, cellar and attic lit by four C20 two-light dormers.
1:4:1 windowed: 2, 3, 4 and 5-light C20 double-chamfered stone
mullioned casements some with transoms some with stopped hoods.
All windows with leaded panes. String over windows of late C18 -
early C19 extension. Plank door off centre left of main body in
plain surround with flat hood. Former doorway to main body (now
blocked) with window inserted right. Gable end and axial stack
from left-hand eaves of converted barn.
Interior: niche lined with blocks of finely carved stone possibly
originally from an altar. 3-bay roof to converted barn with 3
original trusses comprising collar and tie beam with struts from
tie to collar and from collar to principal rafter.
