1/57 Lodge at south-west corner of estate

GV II

Small lodge to Barnsley Park. Mid/late C19. Coursed and dressed stone with flush quoins on plinth, slate roof with overhanginq eaves, single ashlar ridge stack with elaborately moulded cornices matching decoration on pair of gatepiers close by (q.v.). Small squarish range, single storey and attic. Main facade to south has doorway to left with door of 2 fielded square top panels and 2 long recessed panels below, recessed in moulded flush stone surround with flat stone hood with moulded edge suppported on large scrolled and carved console brackets. Small keyed oculus above with plain architrave and recessed glazing. To right, canted bay on ground floor with 8/12/8-pane sashes and carved stone balustrade. Two small 6-pane casements set close together above in dormer with moulded stone pediment. Plat band at top of ground floor windows.
