Public house. Early to mid C16. Remodelled and extended early C19 with later C19 alterations. Timber frame, part rebuilt and extended in brick, stuccoed with scoring to resemble ashlar, some weatherboarding. Slate roofs with some tiles. Originally a double ended hall house, extended to rear. Hall and inner cross wing roofs raised in early C19. Now all 2 storeys. Hall range set back with 1 storey late C19 projecting screen, central double doors with fanlight, flanking cross casements, upper lights of which have shaped corners, coped parapet. First floor flush moulded frame tripartite sash. Crosswings are deeply jettied with tripartite sashes in flush moulded frames, ground floors weatherboarded. Panelled eaves soffit to hall and inner returns of wings, original steep outer pitches are tiled. Left end C18 internal stack. Stack in hall range towards right end in front pitch. To rear an early C19 range with a shallow pitched roof. External stacks on both ends. C20 lean-to outshut on left end. Early C19 rear elevation has some ground floor weatherboarding, 2 entrances towards centre, a 6 light mullion and transom small pane casement. First floor 4 glazing bar sashes with flush moulded frames. Boxed eaves. Interior: exposed framing largely reset, C16 wave moulded axial binding beam. Cellar has an arched doorway and early ovolo moulded 2 and 3 light window frames. First floor not inspected.
