Lych Gate and Churchyard Wall to Church of St. Michael and All Angels

Lych gate and churchyard wall. 1871-2 by H. Woodyer. Snecked Kentish
ragstone with Bath stone dressings. Timber and tiled lych gate has
stone base, steep gabled head with half hips. 3 bays with pointed
arches, stone corbels to timber, open panelled sides. Small side
buttresses to rear. In roof are small lateral gables with timber
tracery. Steps up to double panelled gates. Cross finial. Wall extends
to enclose E, N and W sides of churchyard. About lm high with triangular
coping. Occasional steps up, more frequent to N and W. Ramps up to
lychgate and to an opening to SW over which is a shaped iron lamp
bracket with scroll ornament and a ridge cross. Included for group value.
