Fox Farmhouse (formerly listed as Manor Gardens) SP 1620 NE 3/38 25.8.60

2. Formerly Fox's Yard. late C17. Excellent example of a Cotswold cottage/house. Detached to north-west of The Manor. 2½ storeys. Rubble with stone slate roof, coped verges, ashlar and chimneys. Mullioned windows with drips, forming strings to 1st and ground floors. L-plan. South front: 2 gables with 2 light windows, 2 windows on 1st floor (3 light), one original window on ground floor (4 light with king-mullion) all cavetto moulded. North-east front: 1:1 windows, gabled attics; 2, 3 and 4 light mullion windows with drips. Irregular single light windows towards gable ends, stair and closet lights. Interior: ground floor south-east room has large inglenook fireplace with modern lintel, spine beam with lozenge stops. On 1st floor, panelled screen in south-west room; south-east room has double (former) stair doors with panelled and enriched spandrels; Tudor arch stone corner fireplace; spine beam with enriched stops; numerous period features. Illustrated in "Old Cottages, Farmhouses etc" by W G Davie and E G Dawber (1905).
