8/79 Cottage adjoining and to north
of Pinbury Park


GV II

Small house linked to service wing of Pinbury Park (q.v.). C18 or
early C19; altered late C19 by Ernest Gimson. Random rubble
limestone; ashlar base wall to small bow window; stone-slate
roof. West facing front with wing running back to east producing
T-plan; all single-storey with attic; single-storey service wing
from Pinbury Park connects with back wing; built into bank at
back. Scattered fenestration to front: late C19 bow window to
ground floor with front 6-pane opening casement and facetted 9-pane
sides; flat leaded roof; half-hipped attic roof dormer above and
to left with leaded casements: indications of blocked windows and
doorway. Casement to each floor at south gable end. Attic
casement in north gable end with pitched roof porch extension
below, probably added by Gimson; very small ground floor casement.
Back wing has attic casement in end gable and corner chimney stack.
Carved stone fireplace in principal front room by Gimson with oak-
leaf decorated mouldings. Included for Group Value.
