Former vicarage. 1840 (plaque on chimney) built for Rev. Mordaunt Barnard (1795 - 1885) vicar 1826 - 1864. Red brick with stone and stucco dressings and steep old red tile roofs. A tall isolated house of 2-storeys, basement and attics. Irregular cruciform plan presenting a steep parapeted gable in the middle of each side. Entrance up steps into S gable by 4-centred arched stucco doorway with battened door. Original simple greenhouse to left of door. Plinth offset course in yellow brick, and Latin inscription on stone set in tall external chimney stack to right of entrance. Stucco surrounds and drip moulds to casement windows. Small canted bay window on W. Ground lower at rear (E) side and windows have yellow brick surrounds with sash windows. An interesting vicarage of 1840 on a prominent site above the river. Part of a group with former Schoolhouse to N.
