Hill Top
II
Detached house; first half and probably late C17, altered C19 and
C20. Timber-framed, brick nogging; Sussex-bond brick in part of
third bay; thatched roof. 3-bay, 1½ storeys. Entrance front:
left bay narrower, main posts and timber framing to top of wall
exposed, brick below with late C20 glazed door. Main beams, as
elsewhere, tenoned through posts or studs. To right brace to
wallplate; brick section covering timber-framing, exposed
internally. Exposed stud and main post, late C20 French door
between, 2-light casement in dormer over. 2-panel high timber-
framing with duplicate main post up to projecting chimney breast;
remainder of third bay and right return brick. Left return
timber-framed, half covered by early C20 extension (not of special
interest). Roof half-hipped left, swept over dormer, gable on
right. Brick chimney on ridge, to right of dormer. Rear wall
exposed timber-framing, 3 panels high. Internally large stone
fireplace central room with timber lintel. Two-bay timber-framed
house, gable chimney, enlarged 1 bay in timber-framing, latter
partly rebuilt in brickwork C19.
