FormerInn, now Public House; late C18, early c19; Flemish bond brickwork, rendered plinth, slate roof. 'U' plan, 2 room deep front, 4 windows wide. On left to street 2 tripartite sash windows, rubbed brick arches, flush panelled external shutters. Remains of earlier rubbed brick arches either side. Below elliptical brick head to cellar opening on left, flat head on right. To right open carriageway, cambered brick arch with iron- plated projecting stone keystone. Beyond single-storey canted bay, 4-pane, moulded cornice, flat roof. Plain stone string course to first floor, 4 sash windows, cambered rubbed-brick arches. To right of centre 2 projecting boards, V plan, painted with Inn name, held iron stay. Second floor four 6-pane horizontal-pivoting casements. Moulded timber eaves, chimneys on ridge to left of carriageway and left gable. (D. Verey, Gloucestershire, The Vale and the Forest of Dean, 1970).
