Camp Cottage

(Formerly Listed as Camp House, HIGHLEADON)

7.4.81

II
House; C17, altered C18 or early C19; windows largely renewed late C20. Timber framed, brick nogged, on random-rubble plinth: painted brick to rear: thatched roof. Two bays, one and a half storeys, continuous lean-to rear extension.

Front: lateral brick chimney on left, tiled offsets below eaves. Metal window to right, possibly in position of earlier doorway (may be post 1981 alteration). Further metal window to right, two-light casement to dormer over, swept roof. Right return large brick base to chimney outside timber-framed gable: roof hipped against sides of chimney at top: front wallplate cantilevered out full depth of chimney. Left return metal window to ground floor; double boarded door to cellar below. Framing in wall largely paint on render, but probably correct.Collar and tie-beam truss over, bottom half glazed. End of lean-to extension on left.
