II

Former farmhouse, now house. First half C17, extended late C17, possibly later, altered C19, late C20. Timber framing on stone plinth, part brick nogged, part wattle and daub. Slate roof. Five bays, 1½ storeys, one room deep, leanto to part of rear. Front: large external stone chimney on right return, leanto random rubble stone extension to front, originally oven. Framing 3 panels high to eaves. On right double French doors (C20); 2 narrow panels to left, projecting timber from original porch, blocked doorway. Above 2-light casement in gabled dormer: roof slightly lower to left of blocked doorway. C20 door, under half- glazed late C20 leanto porch: 3-light casement to left; evidence of beams being tenoned through studs on left: wall timbers numbered. Two 3-light casements: late C20 double garage doors replacing earlier doors. Above rooflight, 2-light casement in leanto dormer. Left gable tie beam truss, collar with V struts over. Internally, on right large stone fireplace, marks from knife sharpening on stone on right. Roof one pair purlins, square ridge. Left end reported to have been used as a cowhouse by C20. Rear framing survives intact. Main front may be of 3 periods, certainly of 2. Leanto conservatory at right end not of special interest.
