GV II
Farmhouse. C17, altered mid-C19 and C20. Sandstone rubble with part hipped, part Welsh slate and part C20 tiled roof. Rectangular plan main house aligned north/south formerly with through-passage and north gable-end stack, cross-wing at south end with axial stack and C19 service wing extending to east at north end of main house, further minor additions to north and west. Two storeys and attics; east front: half-dormer with 4-light window to right, one 3-light casement window to left and two similar windows to right of square-framed doorway, ledged door with decorative C17 hinges. The low walls which flank the doorway probably indicate the position of a former porch which is said to have been of two storeys. Interior of main house retains internal square-headed door-frame and ledged doors. The upper floor is largely complete with three plank-and-muntin panelled partitions, segmental-headed doorways and ledged doors; chamfered ceiling beams on upper and lower floors; a 3-light diamond mullioned window remains intact in former west external wall now obscured by later additions. The lower floor of the cross-wing retains a section of plank-and-muntin panelling with segmental- headed doorway and ledged door. A large C19 cast iron range remains intact in the former large open fireplace; a 3-light ovolo-moulded mullioned window is visible in small room to rear and is largely obscured from exterior. (RCHM, Vol I, p 190).
