GREAT AMWELL CAUTHERLY LANE TL 3612 (west side) Great Amwell Village 11/10 Pepper Hill House at junction with Pepper Hill II
House. C18 or earlier reconstructed in early C19. Stucco with old red tiled roofs, mostly gabled with cusped and pierced bargeboards. A large 2-storeys T-shaped house with other gabled projections and single storey porch with octagonal corner turrets on W. Moulded labels to windows with terminal heads. Tall square chimney shafts set diagonally. Jettied gable on E with oriel window. Lattice leaded casement windows. Large canted wooden bay window on brackets to left of porch. Marked by name on map of 1811. Said to have been a coaching inn on the Cambridge - London run.
