House. C15 timber framed north range, early C16 brick north gable, south range C18 of clunch. Pantiled roof. 2 storey timber framed house with jetty to west. Close studding, the jetty supported on wall shafts which carry carved braces to bressumer above polygonal crenellated capitals. Ground floor
with 6-light mullioned timber window, On first floor is 5-light mullioned timber window to left of C20 casement. Gabled roof. East wall of close studding. First floor with 2 4-light timber mullioned windows. North gable wall is stepped above moulded brick kneelers in 3 tiers. Octagonal external chimney rises through centre of gable to terminate in triple octagonal flues. Chimney of 4 decorative tiers : lower tier plain; second tier with cusped trefoil arches, the trefoils in terracotta; third tier of brick diaper; fourth of vertical chevron meander. 2 windows each floor beneath moulded basket arches, those to ground floor of cable motif, to first floor of hollow moulded brick. Sashes of late C20. 2 2-light arched C16 attic windows.
South extension to house of 2 storeys in 3 bays. C20 door to left behind plain doorcase and flat hood. 2 C20 sash windows to right, 3 C20 casements to first floor. Gabled roof continuous with remainder of building. Tumbling in south gable head.
Interior. Lounge (lower north room) with freestanding chimney breast and fireplace. Moulded brick jambs in chevron pattern. Drilled and billeted bressumer. Timber frame of close studding and heavy scantling. Spine beam and 2 bridging beams each with double rolls in chamfers, spiral ribbon decoration and ogeed tongue stops. Joists have rolled edges. Bridging beams stand on wall posts elaborated into pilasters with splay capitals and 5 astragal rolls. Dining room to south also of close studded framing. Upper north room with fireplace as before, with moulded chevron brick jambs. Cross bridging beams carved with double rolls in chamfers and ogeed tongue stops. Joists have rolled edges. Wall posts carry arched braces to wall plate beneath bridging beams. Walls are painted with variety of floral, scrolled and figurative motifs. One blocked 3-light hollow chamfered mullion window. Study (to south) with similar bridging beams, joists, framing and paintings. Braces from wall posts are tension braces. Roof is C17 replacement: principals carry collars upon arched braces, through purlins and arched wind bracing.
