HILLINGTON HILLINGTON HALL TF 72 NW 3/31 Dairy Farmhouse at TF 7245 2619 GV II Farmhouse late C17 remodelled c1830, carstone with brick dressings, black unglazed pantiles, end external stacks, gable parapets that to west with slate capping. 3 bays, 2 storeys and attic. T shaped plan with 3 cells to front, rear wall of central cell recessed to front of rear wing. South facade: shell carstone, plinth of galletted carstone rubble, dentil cornice, central bay articulated by flush vertical brick stripes; tall central doorway, rectangular light over door; windows with flat arches, casements with Tudor grille cast iron glazing bars, of 3 lights to bays 1 and 3, those to ground floor with transoms, of 2 lights to central bay of 1st floor. Right return of carstone rubble with inserted windows to ground floor right and 1st floor left, blocked window to ground floor left; one attic window with cast iron glazing bars to each return. Rear of uncoursed carstone; 1st bay with brick single storey flat roofed extension of no special architectural interest, inserted doorway to right with old brick to right jamb, 2 C20 windows to 1st floor. Central bay projecting under hipped roof, cellars, 2 windows to each floor. 3rd bay windowless. Interior: 3 tier 8 bay roof of stagggered purlins and collars, some curved, no ridge piece, most timbers renewed; tie beams to ground and 1st floor with ogee stops at one end; L hinges to door of central cell and to door across blocked opening in return wall of left hand cell; 2 barrel-vaulted brick cellars under rear wing.
