Tudor Rose Cottage

House c.1500, altered and refronted 1738.
Timber framed with rendered wattle and daub infill and thatched roof. Through passage plan. 2 storeys on brick plinth. Central door flanked by one C18 casement right and left, that to left renewed. 2 similar to first floor, all with glazing bars. Central date plaque in plaster bearing inscription 17 IEL 38 (Joseph and Elizabeth Lucas). Cabled roof with internal west stack. C18 gabled and pantiled extension to left of rear elevation. Door to right by one-light window. C20 window right again below C18 casement. East gable with drip shelf at eaves line below blocked attic light.
Interior framing of heavy scantling at first floor, otherwise most timbers boxed or covered. Curved bracing at corners. Roof of tie beams, collars, clasped purlins and windbracing in each bay.
