4/10 Church of St.Andrew 30.5.60 - I

Parish church. Cll and later. Rendered flint except tower with ashlar dressings. Round western tower, aisleless nave with south porch and chancel. 2 of 3 bell-openings unique; the 2 hewn out of single slabs of stone, one to form a Patée formée cross motif and the other a twin open- ing with bulbous central shaft and bow tie shaped capital and base. Third opening recognizable as twin arches on central shaft beneath a single relieving arch. Long and short western quoins. 2 post-medieval 3-light nave windows and similar 2-light chancel windows. C15 east window of 3 lights with embattled transoms. Interior without chancel or tower arches. Angle piscina with one stiff lea respond capital and cusped arches one with ogee arch forming spandrels with blind tracery. One blocked 2-light window to north with trefoil heads. Roof of 1837. Included grade I for unique bell-openings.
