Temple of Mercury 155 metres east south east of Lynford Hall

Gazebo. Circa 1862. Designed by W.Burns.
Limestone ashlar formerly with a lead or copper roof. Circular in plan with 6 Roman Doric columns on a polygonal 3-step crepidoma and a section of plain wall occupying about one third of the circumference. Continuous plain entablature supporting the remains of a wooden truss in the form of a hemi-spherical cupola. Formerly ceiled with sections of fallen plaster cornice surviving. Stone bench against wall.
