4/8 Flaxmoor 21/ 7/51 - II

House. Mid C15 core, C16 and C18 rear, early C19 facade. Colourwashed brick and black pantiled roof. Double pile plan. 2 storeys and attic. Facade 6 bays. Square entrance porch with moulded brick arch on irontwist columns. Fielded door with side lights below semi-circular over-light. Sashes to all windows with shutters. Flat brick eaves cornice. Deep bell-based roof on timber overhang. 4 gabled dormers with round arched facings. Internal gable stacks and on ridge right of centre.Tumbling at south-west gable and parapet on kneelers. Rectilinear ogeed greenhouse abuts south wall by Boulton and Paul of late C19. Rear pile of 2 storeys with renewed and some C19 sashes under segmental arches. Dentil eaves cornice. Cross wing to left altered in 1880's contains kitchen : 2 sash windows with glazing bars. Gabled full- height stair tower contains scattered renewed fenestration but retains C16 winder staircase. Mid C16 ceiling beams in kitchen with ovolo and cavetto stops and incised decoration.
