Details

NORTON DAVENTRY R0A0 SP66SW (East side) 5/164 Chest tomb approx 25m. SE of Church of All Saints GV II Chest tomb. Commemorates members of the Botfield family beginning with Charlotte Botfield d.1825. Grey sandstone. Low and very large rectangular chest with space for 3 plaques on long side, two on sides. Low pyramidal stone slabbed roof topped by swagger urn with oval domed top and finial signed on left side of urn base: Baseley Daventry. Stone-paved enclosure bounded by low walls and original cast-iron railings with spear finials and urns to standards. The Botfield family were Lords of the Manor from 1800-l863 and lived at Norton Hall, demolished 1945.
