Shops and offices. 1899. Sandstone with tile roof. A symmetrical
composition of three storeys with attic, with a cornice above each storey.
On the ground floor are two shop fronts flanked by pilasters with granite
shafts. Above each shop front is a two-storey canted bay window projecting
as an oriel. Within carved foliage decoration at the base of the right-
hand window is the date "1899". Both bays have a swan-necked pediment
springing from the cornice above the central first floor light and have a
parapet above the upper cornice. At attic level there are two steeply-
pitched shaped gables with carved decoration and with attic windows which
have round heads. In the centre of the facade, above the doorway, are
two narrow windows on each floor. The doorway is flanked by pilasters and
has a round head with carved spandrel decoration. Beneath a pediment on
brackets is inscribed:. "Imperial Buildings". This building forms a close
group adjoining No 29 [Taylor's Music Shop (qv)].
