Details

STAGNES ROAD 1. 5104 Moseley B1 Nos 25 and 27 SP 08 SE 12/46 II 2. Circa 1909. An effective pair of semi-detached Arts and Crafts houses treated as a symmetrical composition. Two storeys light red brick with some blue headers. Half H plan with 2 bay centre and 1 1/2 storey lean-to porches against, but set back from, front of gabled flanking wings. Plain bargeboards to gables. Tiled gable end roofs with overhanging eaves swept as if thatch over first floor windows of centre. All brick chimney stacks on side of wings and joint stack to central ridge. Off centre ground floor 4 light leaded casements to wing in shallow flush frames; diamond brick vents to right and left respectively. Canted oriels on first floor with pargetted aprons on large corbel-brackets, leaded lights. The same emphasis is placed on first floor of centre block with 3 light casements as opposed to small 2 light ones with thin cornices and relieving arches on ground floor. The lean to porches have splayed reveal round headed doorways to front with thin impost moulding carved in. Small attic lights above. Slight camber arched windows to sides.
