WELLINGTON ROAD 1. 5104 Edgbaston B15 Nos 34 and 35 SP 0685 SW 46/37 II GV 2. C1830-40 pair of semi-detached stucco villas with flanking coach houses, treated as one composition and set back behind carriage sweep. Two storeys each with 3 bay front symmetrical in itself. Plinth; ground floor channelled up to first floor sill course supporting baseless pilasters articulating first floor window bays. Deeply moulded eaves cornice to low pitch gable end slate overall; stucco chimneys with cornices and swept blocking courses, ornamental pots. Revealed glazing bar sashes, those on first floor in architrave surrounds, the central first floor window of each elevation having cornice on consoles; large sashes to ground floor with marginal glazing. Originally both had Ionic columned porches with deep entablatures, No 34 intact but No 35 only retains the wall pilasters, modern Georgian wood. Architrave framed entrance with panelled reveals, panelled door and rectangular fanlight. Each villa has handsome link walls, downswept with parapet over passage door, then curving out in quadrant to meet with corner of 2 storey pediment gabled coach house segmental arched coach doors, small glazing bar sash above. An effective double villa design.
