Details

WESTFIELD ROAD 1. 5104 Edgbaston B15 No 20 SP 08 NW 6/45 II 2. Includes No 2A Woodbourne Road. Dated 1893 by J L Ball, an early example for Birmingham of a "Wrenanssance" house, a substantial building with large gables on corner with Woodbourne Road. Two storeys red brick with thin stone sill courses to both floors; moulded eaves cornice and steep hipped slate roof with leaded casement flat roofed dormers; tall brick chimney stack with round headed panels. Entrance side elevation to Westfield Road of 3 bays the centre in slight break with pediment. Narrow nearly flush framed sash windows, coupled to centre above doorway with rubbed brick flat arches. Ionic pilastered stucco doorway with festoon to lintel, entablature and segmental pediment. Coupled and single similar sash windows to 5 bay north front with pent roofed leaded light rectangular bays at ground floor. Lower service wing to right. All sash windows have louvred shutters. Symmetrical south garden front with same fenestration. Rectangular brick bay with cornice to right hand of ground floor.
