A substantial 2-storey, 3 bay buff stucco classical early Calthorpe estate
villa of c.1815. Very slightly recessed bay wings, probably slightly later
additions. The main block has shallow rustication to ground floor, plinth
and first floor sill band. Flat bracketted eaves to low pitch hipped slate
roof. Left hand ground floor window set in shallow rectangular panel carried
down to plinth. Right hand window probably of c.1850-60: a tripartite Doric
plastered rectangular bay with entablature. Glazing bar sashes to first
floor, tripartite to right with stucco dividers. Porch of coupled Roman
Doric columns with triglyph and medallion frieze and modillion cornice, blocking
course. Panelled reveal round headed doorway with inverted looped radial
and marginal glazed pattern to fanlight. Some late C19 fenestration to wings,
that to right with modern school extensions not included in listing. The
villa is similar in design to No 4 Church Road adjacent.
