Details
1. CHARLOTTE ROAD 5104 Edgbaston B3 Nos 11 and12
SF 0685 SW 46/4 2.4.81 II GV 2. Circa 1840 pair of narrowly detached 2 storey stucco villas. Symmetrical 3 bay fronts, originally identical, with flanking coach houses. Each has plinth, 1st floor string course, moulded bed to frieze and to not boxed eaves of gable end slate roof. Planking tall corniced chimneys. The centre bay is slightly advanced. First floor windows have architrave surrounds with moulded cornices on consoles, the outer window with vestigial pediments. No 12 retains original ground floor windows set in eaved architraves with splayed feet and apron panels down to plinth flanked by volutes. No 11 has rectangular bay windows of circa 1850 with Ionic pilasters and entablatures. Each house has deep Ionic columned porch with entablature and blocking course. Double doors of 6 moulded panels, rectangular fanlights, moulded doorheads carried out over panelled reveals. Screen wall coach-houses to left and right, that of No 11 has return wall swept down as garden wall to Gough Road including a segmental arched doorway flanked by piers.
