Terrace of 8 houses. 1938. By J. Lomax Simpson. Brick
with stone dressings some plaster and weatherboard, and tile
roofs. 2 storeys, 14 bays, crescent plan with returns. End
bays have projecting lateral stacks with random quoins and
small lights; 2nd, 3rd and 12th, 13th bays have jettied
plastered 1st floors on braced posts; 4th and 11th bays
project under jettied gables. Windows have leaded
casements, most of 3 lights; paired rectangular bay windows
to 5th, 6th and 9th, 10th bays. 4th and 11th bays have 2-
storey 4-light canted bay windows, 2nd bay has canted bay
window, 13th bay has half-canted window adjoining porch.
1st floor has dormers with weatherboarded gables. Entrances
have plank doors with small paned lights. Gable ends have
4-light ground floor window. Canted bays have ground floors
under lean-to roofs. Returns have gabled bays as above,
then recessed bay and 2-storey re-entrant porches and doors
with vertical strips and strap hinges. 7 cross-axial
stacks. Rear have flat-roofed projections.
