ULCOMBE CHEGWORTH ROAD TQ 85 SW (west side) 2/175 Chegworth Manor Farmhouse 26.4.68 (formerly listed as Chegworth Farmhouse) GV II

Farmhouse. Early C15 with late C16 or early C17 alterations and early C19 facade. Timber framed, weatherboarded, with plain tile roof. Open hall of 2 unequal-length bays with storeyed bay to right. Two right end bays rebuilt in late C16 or early C17. Late C16 two-bay rear wing to right. 2 storeys on stone plinth. Left gable end jettied. Hipped roof with gablet to right and three-quarters hip with gablet to left. Ridge stack towards left end. Multiple brick ridge stack to rear wing. Irregular fenestration of five 16-pane glazing-bar sashes. Two 24-pane and one 16-pane glazing-bar sashes to ground floor. Panelled door under flat hood on brackets, up one step towards right end. Interior: exposed timbers. Frieze windows with ovolo-moulded mullions to left gable end on ground floor. Posts with long, cut jowls. Octagonal crown-post with scroll moulding. Hip at left gable end supported on very short upper crucks.
