3/55 Barn about 30 metres north-west of Tanner House
GV II
Barn. Early C17 and C18. Timber framed, on brick plinth. Weatherboarded. Plain tile roof. 6 timber-framed bays; north end bay early C17, rest C18. Gabled. Midstrey in narrow second bay from north, with full-height doorway to west and porch with hipped roof and double doors to east. Lean-to to east. Interior: gunstock jowls to north end bay, cut jowls to slightly taller principal posts of rest of barn. Clasped-purlin roof with reducing principal rafters and raked jowled queen posts to north end bay, altered in C18. Staggered butt purlin roof to rest, with vertical queen struts to collars. North end bay has tension braces to side walls and tension braces trenched past midrail to gable end. Straight braces to rest. Lath and plaster infilling above midrail to most of east wall. Included for group value.
