ST22NW CHEDDON FITZPAINE CP 5/35 Nerrols Farmhouse

II

Farmhouse. C17, enlarged C18 and early C19. Roughcast over cob and random rubble, slate roof hipped on crossing right, overharging with soffit board, brick stacks left gable end and on cross wing. Plan: farmhouse lying East-West, addition at rear in North East corner, subsequently enlarged with South East wing and attached outbuildung. Two storeys, 3:2 bays; first floor 16-pane sash windows, and in one bay re-entrant angle, ground floor 16-pane sash windows flanking entrance, late C20 inert door in re-entrant angle, 16-pane sash in crosswing end left of long, single storey, random rubble outbuilding with brick dressings, hipped, pantiled roof, main entrance depressed arch head with fanlight, C19 door with decorative studding and brass fittings, coeval decorative wrought iron porch with hood. Two gable left return. Interior not viewed; said to contain only 2 dateable features, a chamfered beam with scroll stops and an ovolo moulded door frame that has been reversed.
