II
Farmhouse, now dwelling. Possibly late medieval, ceiled C16,C17 lean-to addition east gable end, altered internally and refenestrated mid-late C20. Roughcast over rubble and cob, thatched roof hipped to right of roughcast stack, similar stack left gable end. Plan: possibly open hall house, difficult to deduce because of C20 alterations to central section, 3-cell and cross passage with stair turret opening out of lower end room (west), single cell addition on east gable end. One and a half storeys, 4 bays; two 3-light eyebrow dormer casements flanking small window above original entrance, another C20 window set below eaves right, ground floor 4-light left of entrance, 3-light right, inserted C20 door with C20 window beyond; left return gable end small lancet to remains of curing chamber now with bread oven inserted. Interior: lower end, former kitchen, chamfered lintel to fireplace with initials AHB inscribed, timber framed partition on rear wall to winder stair turret, chamfered beam, timber framed partition to cross passage, axial beams chamfered with scroll stops, site of winder stair to right of fireplace, empty bay on other side now passage to small room behind stack with lateral chamfered beams; jointed cruck truss roof with framed partition on upper floor.
