Details

LANGFORD BUDVILLE CP ST12SW RUNNINGTON 4/48 Dunn's Farmhouse 25.1.56 II Farmhouse. C17, reroofed C18. 1961 and restored 1980's. Red sandstone random rubble, slate roof, boxed eaves, external stone stacks gable ends, stone stack left of cross passage. U-plan. 3 cell and cross passage, rear entrance blocked, former dairy left opening out of kitchen, agricultural building right at rear. Two storeys, 2:1 bays, wall breaks forward beside entrance and appears to have been partly rebuilt, first floor two 3-light C18 leaded wooden casements one with fine decorative catch, C20 leaded wooden casement right, ground floor C18 window left, C20 flanking entrance, C19 plank door with decorarive hinges. Right return gable end set on living rock, renewed tiny wooden lancet left of stack, original lancet right in full height projection of curing chamber. Interior: large curing chamber intact, bread oven inserted subsequently and now removed chamfered bressumer to kitchen fireplace with cambered head to former winder stair lit by lancet, central lateral beams to all ground floor rooms, renewed in kitchen, cross passage partition removed, good moulded beam to hall with scroll stops, chamfered lintel to fireplace, C20 grate to inner room, moulded joists, balusters of early C18 stair reset in new stair in wing, in bedroom bolection moulded chimney piece with pretty 1860s basket grate, collar and principal roof. An interesting farmhouse, carefully restored.
