CUSHUISH 3/97 The Mount and Hillview

GV II

House, now divided. C17, perhaps an enlargement of a late C16 dwelling. Slate and red sandstone random rubble, slate roof, brick stacks. "L"- plan, 2 cell cross passage with extension to West. 2 storeys, 3 bays; unusually tall house with three late C17 cruciform windows first floor, 1 ground floor right, all with leaded panes, small C20 glazed opening to right of central doorway with 3-light casement under wooden lintel to left. Door C20, is partially demolished rendered porch with lean-to roof. Interior: cross passage with stone flag floor, room to right small perhaps rebuilt fireplace with chamfered stone lintel and cloam oven to right. On West wall is square projecting staircase turret. South wing not viewed. (VAG Report, unpublished SRO, November 1980).
