Pair of houses. 1887. By Watson Fothergill of Nottingham for JJ Adams. Red brick, with black brick and ashlar dressings, with plain tile roofs, gabled and half-hipped. 2 valley and 2 side wall coped brick stacks. Domestic Revival style. Plinth, polychrome bands, diaper work band above first floor, traceried bargeboards to front gables. Windows are mainly sashes, with wooden mullions and transoms. 3 storeys; 4 window range. T-plan. Symmetrical front with projecting centre, double gabled, with 2 canted bay windows with cross frames and hipped roofs. Left bay window has an unusual wooden beast's head lamp bracket. Above, 2 tripartite sashes. Above again, 2 cross framed sashes. Side bays have open wooden porches with hipped roofs, covering half-glazed doors with sidelights, renewed. Returns have pent-roofed side porches, and regular fenestration with segment-arched windows. (Get to know Nottingham: Brand K: Watson Fothergill, Architect: Nottingham: 1987-: 15).
