Details
1. 5363 STONY STREET (North side) GV Nos 16 and 11 31.1.74 Nos 16 and 17 ST 7748 SE 5/212
II*.
2. No 16 probably dates from 1688, see rainwater head at rear. 3 storeys. Rubble walls with ashlar dressings and much worn quoins. Modillion cornice over pulvinated frieze, parapet. 5 windows with architrave surrounds, 3 originally had triangular pediments (now removed). Sashes without glazing bars. 2 modern shop fronts. To rear is a large stair-turret with pyramidal slate roof. Several stone mullioned and cross mullioned windows with drip moulds and leaded lights in moulded surrounds, one oak mullion and transom window. Lead gutter with stooped ornament below 1st floor landing window. Original hmd+.rood staircase with modern handrail, newels with turned pendants, scribed moulding on risers and wrought iron "S" scroll panels (possibly original). Another pendant in ceiling of stair turret. Small possibly timber-framed projection to rear (rendered with oak mullions to windows). Studded late C17 doorway to rear of No 17 with moulded ovolo stopped surround.
