9/2 Terminus stone at NGR ST 1094 3276 II
Terminus stone. Probably early C19. Sandstone with cast iron plaque bolted on. Cambered head to stone about 450 mm high, shaped top to plaque inscribed: Here ends the Taunton Trust. This marked the extent of the Taunton Turnpike Trust's responsibility on the Taunton to Elworthy road; the Trust was in operation from 1752 to 1875. A rare survival of a terminus stone.(SANHS Proceedings, Vol 127, 1981).
