(Formerly listed as Pear Tree Cottage)

Detached cottage. C17 modified. Local stone rubble; double Roman clay tiles between coped gables; brick end and intermediate chimney stacks. Two storeys with attic, three bays. UPVC windows, installed c.1984, replacing sashes; C20 porch between bays two and three, with dormer window in roof over. Single storey extension to north west gable. Fireplace in east room has timber beam with date 1633 cut in and a stopped chamfer beam spins the ceiling; arched collar trusses to roof.

Formerly house of the Ames family; two members emigrated in C17 to the USA, became wealthy, and endowed Bruton Church, Williamsburg, Virginia: now place of pilgrimage for American branch of Ames family.
