7/140 Lower Eafield Cottages, barn and - Stables.

2 cottages, now one house; and adjoining barn and stables. Later C18, the stables being built after the barn which was built after the cottages. Watershot stone with stone slate roof. Each cottage is double-depth, 2-storey by one room wide, the left one having an additional single depth room to the left. The barn to the right is roofed at right-angles and consists of a shippon on the ground floor and hayloft above (no floor now exists). The stable was added to the rear corner of the barn and similarly has a hayloft above (no floor now exists). The cottage consists of 3 bays with quoins, head and sill bands, flat faced mullion window of 3, 4 and 3 lights to the ground floor 3, 7 and 5 lights to the first. The 2 doors have square-cut lintels and 3-piece jambs. The barn has 3 shippon entries, triangular headed vents, a pointed voussoir arch hay door over the central entry and an owl hole. 2 similar hay doors exist on the side elevation as well as 2 blocked doorways, 2 windows, 5 vents and moulded eaves corbels. The stable has a central door, 2 windows and a square pitching door above. The stalls remain in the stables: the barn has queen-post trusses.
