Details

BURTON PIDSEA NEW ROAD and MAIN ST TA 23 SW (west side) (south side) 7/100 Boundary wall to the Paddocks II Garden wall. 1843 by Edward Baxter. Random rubble and red brick with tile copings. L-plan, northern wall approximately l00 yards long and 4 feet high, eastern wall approximately 200 yards long 6 feet high to, 50 yards to north, the rest 9 feet high. The latter part has brick courses at a third and 2 thirds height, plus another beneath the logback tile copings. Brick gatepiers to northern end and a segment headed doorcase with plank door. Beyond to north an inserted C20 opening with ramped walls and brick piers. 6 feet high wall has 4 courses of red brick to top and rounded tile copings, curved corner to north end. About half way long, inserted in white stones, are the date and the initials of the builder 'EB 1843'. 4 foot high wall has blocked doorcase to east and C20 opening to west. No buildings of special architectural or historic interest have been included from the parish of Conniston
