GV II

Threshing barn. Mid - late C18. Red-brown brick in English garden wall bond. Pantile roof. Rectangular on plan with through waggon entrance. 6 internal bays. North side: entrance bay to right of centre is flanked by pilaster strips and has waggon entrance beneath timber lintel and elliptical stretcher brick relieving arch, single breather slit above. Side bays each have 3 tiers of openings: to right, 2 lower rows of 4 breather slits, with pitching hatch and pair of slits above; to left, a lower tier of 6 slits; a central tier with a board pitching hatch door on strap hinges, flanked by 2 slits to left, 3 to right, and an upper tier with a segmental-headed pitching hatch with recessed board door flanked by 5 slits to right and a single slit to left. Stepped eaves. Tumbled-in brick to raised gables. South side, partly obscured by later additions of no special interest, has similar waggon entrance, door and pitching hatch to right, and similar arrangement of breathers to north side. West gable end has 3 tiers of 3 breather slits (some blocked); a central blocked hatch above, and hatch in the gable with a board door. East gable end is similar but with both hatches blocked. 6-bay roof with tie beams to main trusses, intermediate collared principal rafters, and 2 tiers of staggered butt-purlins.
